The series while exhibited at the Royal Concert at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, where it was seen by her royal Highness princes Beatrix of the Netherlands.
Waterlanders consists of three microscopic pictures, representing planets.
The Netherlands is mostly beneath sea level, so we are in a constant battle against water. Yet water can also be very beautiful. These pictures show the mysterious side of water and ice on a microscopic scale. By enlarging these imperceptible details to prints of 1,5x1,5 metres each, these tiny, fragile environments all of a sudden become daunting.
These pictures were exhibited at the Rotterdam Photo Academy during the Rotterdam Museum Night 2013, with the theme "Waterlanders".
Made possible by a fund of the Cultuurfonds of the School for Young Talent, The Hague.
